Everyone will complete 3 posts, by:

  • Answering 2 questions from below; and
  • Addressing item # 7 below.

Questions

  1. What are the steps in drinking water treatment? And, who regulates tap water? Does this surprise you? Did you know that drinking water is not generally tested for tens of thousands of chemicals? How do you feel about this?
  2. Do you drink bottled water? Why or why not? Who regulates bottled water? How do these standards compare to tap water? Does this surprise you? Why or why not? Would you be alarmed if a bottled water company wanted to move into your area and start a bottled water plant? Why or why not?
  3. What is groundwater? Who is Henry Darcy and what did he discover? What is Darcy’s Law? And what is its significance? Why is it so important to understand the relationship between groundwater and surface water?  
  4. What is an aquifer? What characteristics identify an aquifer? Through Figure 4.12, tell us about the largest aquifer in North America. How many states are part of this aquifer system?
  5. What does our textbook say are the current wastewater treatment processes?
  6. What do the scholars say, is water a human right or economic commodity? If both, under what circumstances? (You may have to do a little research to answer this one) 
  7. Respond to ONE statement (within the correct section) or improve on a definition made in ONE other section (1 through 6). [Make this an opportunity for meaningful discussion, that evolves the conversation].
