8.3 - Discussion: Job Hazard Analysis

Question

Module 8 Job Hazard Analysis

Caution Lead Hazard printed on tape in front of a blurred accident scene.

In Module 7, you were asked to prepare a short video or sequence of photographs depicting a potentially hazardous task from your workplace or home.

This week, please post a summary of your Job Hazard Analysis from the perspective of a supervisor who discovered this hazard scenario during the course of normal business operations and is making a report to the board of directors of the company.

Part 1: Describe the job steps, hazard(s), and the controls you identified as necessary to change things. Explain why these changes are needed as if you are making a presentation to the Board of Directors. Be sure to back up what you are saying using your video/photo evidence, JHA, or other examples, empirical data (cite sources using APA format, scholarly sources, etc.). Be sure to attach your video/photo sequence to your post.

Part 2: Be sure to reply to the Board of Directors' denial with a follow-up!  Back up your position!

Reply to one of your colleagues from the perspective of the Board of Directors--explain why the board is not willing to support this corrective action as it is an unnecessary waste of company resources, time and/or money, why it is not supported by the data, the regulations, or similar policies/procedures in the industry.

Be sure to back up what you are saying with examples and/or other empirical data (cite sources using APA, scholarly sources, etc.).
